My first piece of software was finished at the age of nine. The rest is history, though that history has taken some turns I did not expect.
The person
I try to focus on listening, communication, and learning, for myself and for the people I work with. I trained as a counsellor to get better at that. I have also been a chef, a masseur, a trained sommelier, an archery coach, and a motorcycle instructor. I think I’m just going to keep collecting MSc degrees for the entertainment value.
When I venture out into the world, which I do less than you might expect, preferring quiet time over most things, I enjoy SCUBA, golf, reading, and signing up for random courses I probably do not need.
The work
Thirty years of building software systems across regulated industries, startups, and platforms at scale. The thread running through all of it is the same: complex systems, the people inside them, and the gap between the two.
Right now I am focused on agentic AI, building LIOS, a platform for agentic workflow management and strategy alignment, and running PrimusTe.ch, an independent AI transformation practice.
I have spent time as a CTO and VP of Technology across iGaming, fintech, and social gaming. Before that: Technical Director at MetroLyrics, six years at Jelsoft working on vBulletin (up to version 3.8, under the alias Jerry), senior engineer at Cable & Wireless as part of their global internet applications architecture team, and systems work for Lockheed Martin UKGS.
The full work history is on LinkedIn.
The writing
Over the years of dealing with technology, systems, organisations, and people, typically all at the same time, I have accumulated some thoughts worth writing down.
Some of it is research-backed. Some of it is hard-won opinion. All of it is written slowly and posted rarely.
